60 years of Jockel
Innovation from tradition

Since 1949, the customer and his safety from fire have been the focus of the corporate history of Feuerschutz Jockel GmbH & Co. KG. Klaus-Gerhard Jockel took over his father's fire extinguisher trade with a vision. He wanted to create products that make the lives of people easier and particularly safer. This was impressively achieved with the first patents for fittings that make it much easier to take a fire extinguisher into operation in a potentially fatal fire.

The most important milestones:

1949
Engineer Emil Jockel lays the foundations for Feuerschutz Jockel by selling fire extinguishers and tools at Remscheid Goldenberg.

1960
His son Klaus-Gerhard enters the business. Selling tools alone was not fulfilling to him. Therefore, he additionally set up customer service for installation, maintenance and repair of fire extinguishers; the success of this above-average service soon required enlargement measures. The employee numbers increased.

1983
After the death of his father in 1977, Klaus-Gerhard Jockel takes over the company in the second generation. By taking over the fire extinguisher producer Taunus, entrepreneur Klaus-Gerhard Jockel dares take the step to production and moves into the buildings of a former worsted yarn spinning company in the Jägerwald in Remscheid-Lennep; the first fire extinguishers include 1, 2, 6 and 12 kg constant pressure devices of fire classes ABC; 500 extinguishers leave the factory every month.

1984
Soon, he is supported by his youngest son Holger Jockel, who is responsible for the technical area.

1986
The company also decides to sell not only fire extinguishers and customer service, but also merchandise providing the customer a comprehensive complete offer:
the product range comprises signs for safety marking, smoke warning devices, wall hydrants, etc.

1987
Feuerschutz Jockel is on the road to success not only all over Germany; the first international licenses increase the demand in the important life saver abroad as well.
The growing foreign trade relationships with European neighbouring countries bear witness to this.

1989

The practical and comfortably push button valve in 1 and 2 kg extinguishers is successfully registered as a design patent.

1991
First patent registration: stored pressure with push button M 74 facilitates commissioning and maintenance of fire extinguishers

1992
The oldest son, Frank Jockel, takes over responsibility for the commercial area.

1999
Jockel celebrates its 50th anniversary as a company.

2000
Patent registration: the lockable lever fitting permits best extinguishing agent dosage.

2001
The highly demanded long-lasting luminescence labelling image for fire extinguishers is protected by utility samples.

2005
Conversion of the previous single company by single entrepreneur Klaus-Gerhard Jockel into Feuerschutz Jockel GmbH & Co. KG. Frank and Holger Jockel become shareholders. The new, in-house training centre "Am Rosengarten" is opened.

2007
Investment in sales and production, as well as their processes to increase quality and customer service.

2008
Jockel successfully registers a design patent for its semi-automatic fittings.
The sales unit is restructured to handle the requirements of customers better.
